A new roof is about to arrive at a mall in suburban Atlanta.
The company, American Apparel, is starting to get ready for its first major new product launch in years, and the first products it will be launching are roofing insulating material.
The material, called MEAT-2, is a synthetic fabric that has been designed to help protect a mall’s roof from heat and moisture damage, and to help keep the roof’s interior dry and comfortable.
While the product is still in the early stages of its development, it’s already being tested by the company and other mall operators, said Mark Gubel, director of American Apparels engineering department.
The company expects to launch the material at the end of June, he said.
The insulation material is manufactured by an Atlanta company called Cargill.
It is made of a material called PASM, or Polycarbonate Insulating Surfaces, which is also used in commercial products, Gubels said.
It’s not immediately clear how much insulation will cost.
American Apparains is still negotiating with mall operators to find the right price, GUBEL said.
For example, the insulation will be about 10 percent cheaper than the standard mall roofing material, which typically runs about $20 per square foot.
The average mall floor has about 50 square feet of roofing, Gumbel said.
But the product could save mall operators money, as well as help them save energy and reduce the need for electricity and heating.
The insulation also could reduce the amount of heating needed to cool the mall’s main building, Gebels said, which could reduce energy costs by about 10 to 15 percent.
The first American Apparenl products to hit the market will be the Insulation Roof Insulation and Insulation Insulation Floor Insulation, which are designed to cover about 10,000 square feet, Gubaels said in a statement.
The products are available for purchase now for $1,400 per square feet.
AmericanApparel is also planning to sell the Insulated Roof Insulating and Insulated Insulation floor insulation for $10 per square yard, Gubeel said, adding that the price will increase to $30 per square meter in the future.
The firm also has plans to introduce Insulated Floor Insulating Insulation in other malls, such as the Mall of America in downtown Atlanta.
American Apparel has said that its insulation is made from the same material that’s used in the flooring of the company’s new headquarters in Austin, Texas.
The materials are a combination of PASMs and polycarbonate, Gubbels said at the company launch event.
The material’s high energy density makes it more than suitable for high-performance buildings, and Gubeling said that the material will be a key part of the mall.
He said that American Appears insulation materials are more environmentally friendly than conventional materials, which can be more polluting to the environment.
“The material is engineered to have zero energy, no emissions, zero impact on the environment,” Gubl said.
“And, the amount you can use is a little bit less than you might think.
That’s a big deal.”
