A new type of insulated fencing that can block off an entire house or apartment can save you thousands of dollars in the long run, according to a new study.
The material, called fiberglass insulation, is being tested on a growing number of homes, but it has been so difficult to find that researchers were surprised to learn of the benefits of the material.
The study, published in the journal Science, found that using fiberglass insulating material reduces heat losses to the house, saves energy and increases energy efficiency by up to 10 percent.
The researchers also found that the material does not cause structural damage.
“There are a number of things that are important to the structural integrity of a building, such as the strength of the framing and the integrity of the structural support, so we can reduce these structural problems by improving the insulating materials,” said study author Thomas Hirsch, a mechanical engineer at Georgia Tech.
Hirsch said it’s important to note that fiberglass does not conduct heat well, and it’s not ideal for a house that is located on the ground.
But, he added, “it is a very inexpensive material that can be used in a variety of applications.”
Fiberglass is made from carbon fiber.
It has been used in construction since the late 1800s, but the material has been found to be more resistant to cracking and cracking in high temperatures.
“In general, it is not a material that we think of as a good conductor of heat,” Hirsch said.
“It’s good for very cold climates and it can be very hard to find materials that are going to be good in a warm climate.”
“So what you need to do is make sure that you’re going to make the material very, very strong so that it doesn’t break at high temperatures,” he added.
While the fiberglass material is made of carbon fiber, it does not absorb heat well and can easily break down in the heat.
So researchers tested it on a few types of materials and found that they did not cause significant structural damage to the material when heated.
“What you see when you look at this is that it’s just a material,” said Michael Schulz, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology.
“The problem is that when you heat it, you can break it down into very small pieces and that can cause problems.”
When you take that idea of the fiber as a conductor, you take the idea of this being a material, which is just a thin sheet of carbon, and you take it to the opposite extreme, you’re actually doing a very strong electrical load on this material, he said.
The new study found that when fiberglass is heated, it increases its resistance to cracking.
The researchers also observed that the materials, when used in conjunction with a fire wall, were a significant energy saver, reducing the energy required to heat the house by about 30 percent.
“The study shows that you can build a very large firewall that will reduce the energy cost and cost to homeowners,” Hirs said.
